Multidimensional Poverty Profile and its Correlates in Pakistan: A Country Based Analysis
Abstract
This research paper examines poverty along with their correlates at the national level in Pakistan by using Household Integrated Economic Survey (HIES) and Pakistan Social Standard Measurement (PSLM) data. Foster–Greer–Thorbecke (FGT, 1984) and Alkire and Foster (2007) methodologies are employed for the assessment of the extent of the problem while correlates of study are assessed by using logistic and multiple regression models. Estimated measures of current study concluded that poverty remains purely a rural phenomenon for Pakistan. However, correlates of the study concluded that poverty can be reduced at the significant level by improving demographic and socioeconomic variables.
